John 13:1-38, Jesus Identifies His betrayer. Now before the feast of Passover, When Jesus Knew that His hour was come that He Should depart out of this World unto the Father, having loved His own which were in the World, He loved them unto the end. And after Supper being ended, the devil already put in the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simons Son to betray Him. Jesus knew that the Father, had given all things into His hands, and that he came from God; and was going back to God. He rose from Supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel, and girded Himself. After that He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples feet and wipe them with the towel.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, the servant is not greater than his Lord; neither He that is sent greater than He that sent Him. I knew whom I have Chosen: but that the Scriptures may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. Speaking of Judas. Psalm 41:9, Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.In Psalm 55:12,David said, For it was not an enemy that Reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me: that did magnify himself against me; then I would hid myself from him. But the Lord knew, every thing that was going to happen to Him. When the time came He was ready to fulfilled His mission. Thanks be to God, for His unspeakable gift.
Jesus identifies His betrayer. The disciples want to know who it was; Jesus answered, it is he whom I give a peace of bread when I dipped it. and having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas.Iscariot, the son of Simon. and after the sop Satan entered into him;. then said Jesus unto him, that thou doest do quickly. Then having received the sop he went immediately out: in the night. Jesus said, Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified, in Him. Titus 3:5 The kindness and Love of God, our Saviour, toward Man appeared, not by works of Righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercies He Saved us.
