Joseph Beloved by his Father, But hated by his brothers
Now Jacob dwelt in the land where his father was a stranger; in the land of Canaan. Joseph being seventeen years old, was with his brother's feeding the flock. He brought back a bad report to his father, about his brothers. And because he was the son of his old age, his father loved him above all
his Children. Jacob also made him a coat of many colors. When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his other Children; they could not speak to him peaceable.
Genesis 37-5, Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told his brothers; and they hated him more. his brothers understood the dream7-8, His brothers said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? and they hated him more. 9-10, he dreamed yet again, and told his brothers and his father, and his father rebuked him, and his brothers envied him. [Joseph was boastful, and naive, when he told his brothers about his dreams, and it made them furious at him, that is why they sold him as a slave]
His brothers went to feed the flock, and Jacob said to him, go and see if it is well with thy brothers, and well with the flacks. 37:18, When they saw Joseph, a far off they conspired to kill him. they took off his coat of many colors. Now we'll see what happen to his dream: and they cast him in a pit, and sat down to eat; Then the Midianite was passing by, so they sold Joseph as a slave, to the Ishmaelites, for twenty shekels of silver. So the brothers killed a kid of the goat, and dipped his coat in it, and took it home to his father, and said we found it. So his father thought he was dead; and mourned and wept for him.
