Joseph was cast in prison, and two of Pharaoh's servants,the butler and baker
Genesis 40:5-15, The Butler and the Baker, who were confine to prison, Pharaoh's servants, both had a dream on the same night; and were sad, Joseph ask, why are you sad, They said, we both have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. So Joseph said to them, do not interpretation belong to God? tell me the dream. the butler's dream, in my dream a vine was before me, and in the vine were three branches; it was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes. Then Pharaoh's cup, was in my hand; and I took the grapes and press them in Pharaoh's hand. Joseph said, this is the interpretation; The three branches, are three days, Pharaoh will restore you to your place, as chief butler. But remember me, when it is well with you.
When the chief baker saw that the interpretation of the butler's dream was good. He told Joseph his dream, but his interpretation was not good, Pharaoh had a birthday on the third day and reinstate the butler, and hung the baker, just as Joseph had interpret the dreams. But the butler for get Joseph. After two years, Pharaoh had two dreams. and called for his magicians, and his wise men but they could not interpret, his dreams. The butler remember Joseph, and told Pharaoh, about the young Hebrew, who his the ability to interpret dreams. Pharaoh send and called Joseph, and they brought him, he changed his clothing, shaved, and came to Pharaoh.
Pharaoh's dreams were in two parts. He said to Joseph, I have had a dream, but there is no interpretation. I heard that you can interpret dreams.Joseph said to Pharaoh, its not in me, God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace. In my dream I stood on the bank of the river: And behold seven kine, fat fleshed and well favoured; and they fed in the meadow: And seven other kine, came up after them, poor and ill favoured and lean fleshed, and the lean flesh eat up the first fat kine: and they were still ill favoured. So I awoke.And I saw in my dream, seven ears cane up in one stalk, full and good: and seven weather, thin, and blighted by the east wind sprang up after them, and devoured the seven heads. and they were still thin.
Joseph said to Pharaoh, the two dreams are one;God has shown Pharaoh what He will do: The seven kine are seven years, and the heads are seven years; the dreams are one. God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do. Indeed there will be seven years of great plenty. But after seven years, there will be seven years of severe famine which will deplete the land. But under Joseph, through God's guidance, His grace is enough; God demonstrated faithfulness through unusual event. He has the power to help his children face impossible situation. God is in charge.
