Joseph tested his Brothers affection for his younger brother Benjamin, and his father

Joseph showed special regard for Benjamin, that he might see if his Brothers would envied his brother Rachel son Benjamin, as they has hated him. After they eat drink and make merry with Joseph, and stayed the night. Genesis 44:1-15 And Joseph command the steward of his house to fill the men's sock's with food, and put every man's money in his sacks mouth. And Joseph's silver cup in Benjamin sacks, with his money. In the morning the men were sent away, When they were  out of the City.  Joseph said to his steward, up follow after the men; over take them and said, wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good? Is not this cup my master drink from? how then could you have stole my lord silver cup? behold the money that was in our sacks we brought it back, why then would we take my lord, silver cup. With whomsoever of thy servant the cup is found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's servant. And he search  the brother's sacks, and the cup was found in Benjamin's sacks.

Then they rent there clothes. and return to Joseph house, Joseph said to them what have you done.  Judah said, what shall we say unto my lord? how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold we are my lord's servants, both we and he also with whom the cup was found. Joseph said, God forbid, the man in whose hand the cup was found, he shall be my servant; Then Judah came near unto him, I pray thee let thy servant speak, let not anger burn against  thy servant: we have a father he is an old man, and Benjamin was a child of his old age. and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother. And if he leave his father, his father will die.

Now therefore when I come to my Father, if the lad is not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in
the lad's life. And when he see that the lad is not with us, thy servant shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave. for thy servant became  surety for the lad unto my father, if I bring him not again to my father, I shall bear the blame for ever. Now therefore, let thy servant abide instead of the lad.and let the lad go up with his brethren. For how can I go up to my father, and the lad is not with me, lest perhaps I see the evil that shall come upon my father.
